Raksha Foundation Advances Health Outcomes for Mumbai’s Stray Dogs and Cats with Expert Veterinary Care and Advanced Medical Technology
Since our inception, we are making significant strides in improving the health and well-being of the city’s stray dog and cat populations. Through a combination of expert veterinary care, cutting-edge medical technologies, and dedicated sterilization programs, Raksha is transforming the landscape of animal healthcare for vulnerable street animals.
As a fully equipped trauma and treatment center, Raksha Foundation provides essential services including emergency care, surgical interventions, post-operative recovery, and ongoing medical treatment for injured, ill, and abandoned animals. With a strong focus on humane population control, the organization also runs large-scale, high-impact sterilization programs aimed at reducing the suffering of stray animals and preventing the spread of zoonotic diseases.
“Our goal is to provide not just immediate relief, but long-term health and safety for every stray animal that comes into our care,”.
“With our team of experienced veterinary professionals and access to advanced diagnostics and surgical equipment, we ensure every animal receives the best possible care.”
Raksha’s approach combines compassion with clinical precision. By utilizing modern veterinary technologies—ranging from gas anaesthesia and ultrasound to in-house pathology labs—the foundation offers timely diagnoses and effective treatment plans, significantly improving recovery outcomes.
Over the past year alone, Raksha Foundation has:
Treated thousands of injured stray animals across Mumbai’s streets
Performed hundreds of life-saving surgeries
Sterilized thousands of dogs and cats to control overpopulation humanely
The organization continues to work in close partnership with civic bodies, local NGOs, and animal lovers to create a safer, healthier environment for all urban animals.
Raksha Foundation invites the public, volunteers, and donors to support its ongoing mission of protecting and healing Mumbai’s street animals.
